Give wisely to help the poor

From: Terry Morrell, Prunus Avenue, Willerby.

MONDAY and Tuesday’s articles by Ian McMillan (Yorkshire Post, March 11 and 12) were a radical change from his usual frivolity.

May I remind him of the quotation from the Bible which states “the poor will be with you always”.

If Ian wants to support people in the hour of their need he should give to The Salvation Army, an organisation that
does provide a sandwich and a cup of tea and much more for Ian’s £1.50, a much better
value than money spent on booze and drugs.

Ups and downs

From: Martin D Stern, Hanover Gardens, Salford.

I CANNOT understand why Terry Duncan (Yorkshire Post, March 11) should have asked whether one of the two policemen on duty outside the King Edward VII Hospital, one of whom looked twice as tall as the other, was extremely tall or the other extremely short. It seems patently obvious to me that both were the case.

Fame fatigue

From: Mrs P Spencer, Tillotson Street, Silsden, Near Keighley, West Yorkshire.

HOW I agree with Jayne Dowle’s article on famous faces fatigue (Yorkshire Post, March 7).

I am sure some of them can afford it. I for one will not be watching Comic Relief for six hours today.

God only knows

From: David C Wilding, Wollaton Drive, Southport.

RELIGION causes more human stupidity and misery than almost any other form of thinking, but God is no fool and is not hoodwinked by religious sycophants.
