Ivy strangling the countryside

From: Pat Byass, Tickton, Beverley, East Yorkshire.

I AM very concerned about the many hedgerow trees gradually being strangled by ivy, particularly in the East and North Ridings. Maybe recent climate change has made the ivy grow more virulently, and therefore it is more obvious?

If this problem is not tackled urgently by our councils, estate owners and farmers, we will soon have thousands of dead trees, and our beautiful countryside will be much the poorer.

Otherwise you yourselves are suffering from the assumption that what happens in the South is of supreme importance.
