Kicking out at wrong targets

From: Stanley Parr, Maple Avenue, Pershore, Worcs.

SOMETHING is seriously wrong with the whole wages structure, in this country!

We are currently chastising the bankers for big salaries and bonuses – but somebody called Fabio Capello – who is only something in the sporting world (football, I believe) – walks away from a whopping £6m salary – and possibly a £1.5m bonus on top!

How can this ever be justified?

Bankers attempt to keep the nation’s economy going – football is just a weekend sport!

I am told that many footballers also earn unbelievable wages – far in excess of bankers, so are we chastising the wrong people?

Once more on two wheels?

From: Brian Fowler, Armthorpe, Doncaster.

AS a 78-year-old, how I wish that I could again enjoy the “moronic” pleasures of cycling side by side (Cycle rage, Yorkshire Post, February 8) with my old cycling club Thorne Paragon – days when motorists had a great deal more consideration for other road users than they do today.

If cycles were taxed, insured and carried a number plate, would Roger Dobson and others sharing his views have any more regard for their right to ride and safety when encountering club cyclists?

I doubt it.

I have driven a car for 57 years, still do, and can – without hesitation – say that there are one hell of a lot more moronic car drivers on the road than club cyclists.

The great wall of Scotland

From: Ruthven Urquhart, High Hunsley, East Yorkshire.

I profoundly trust he will not utterly deny us some form of access, either by rail or car, so we can make our annual pilgrimage to the greatest arts festival in the world – at Edinburgh in August.
