Lectures from lap of luxury

From: Susan Dennis, Laverton, Ripon.

AM I the only person who thinks it “a little rich” for Archbishops and Cardinals to harangue the Government over welfare reform when they live in palaces and other grand apartments, they wear gilded and bejewelled vestments and no doubt have a variety of staff to ease the everyday burdens of life?

I thought that Jesus Christ was born to a carpenter, and St Peter was a fisherman, so why do the current leaders of the Church not emulate their founders?

Party’s over

I THINK Nick Clegg is clutching at straws if he believes that the Lib Dems and Labour could form a new coalition government.

To be fair, the Lib Dem and Ukip parties have had their 15 minutes of fame but little glory.

I think at the next General Election the electorate will opt for the two main party system again.

The Tory and Labour parties are our best bet for the future and I think none of them will have a landslide victory, but as long as either of them get a workable majority, our country will be in safe hands.

ERIC Pickles has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. Previously he has gone on the record saying he was much happier to get away from the North and resettle in the South.

How typical that he is the Secretary of State for Local Government! Owen Paterson, as Secretary of State for the Environment, does not believe in climate change. What’s next? Probably a pacifist at Defence and a vegan at Agriculture.

Gilbert and Sullivan would have a field day!
