Loss of British jobs happens under MPs’ nose

From: David M Adams, Huddersfield Road, Barnsley.

A WEEK ago, my wife and I were in a group of Barnsley residents who enjoyed a memorable dinner at the Palace of Westminster in the Churchill Room.

We were hosted for the evening by our MP Dan Jarvis.

What struck me most about the event however, was the fact that with the exception of the head waiter, all the serving staff were foreign.

I have no complaints with the service, it was quite superb.

What does really bother me is that at the very seat of power, our politicians either do not acknowledge this problem or are completely oblivious to it.

What a terrible indictment to our country when this situation is occurring right under the noses of those who should be doing something to rectify the matter.

The latest announcement by Ed Miliband that British workers should be given more priority in the job creation process is just another example of empty rhetoric by a politician who, in part, was the creator of the problem (Yorkshire Post, June 23). He has left matters a little late to be reflecting on whether the previous government has made a mistake.

The damage is done!
