March 23 letters: Why the election is becoming a bad joke

ANDREW Vine (The Yorkshire Post, March 17) states that yah boo politics and political campaigning is damaging democracy. I wonder what sort of democracy he is referring to.

Other regimes see the UK locked into the EU, against the wishes of the vast majority by a three party system which is determined that we will never regain self-government and preserve our independent nation state. Our “democracy” is a sham and makes us a laughing stock.

THE Budget was a defining moment for Britain and the next five to 10 years. The Chancellor confirmed the progress to date made in the recovery and also the plans and prospects going forward.

Alas the same cannot be said for Labour, who sneered and griped about omissions and try as they did, sounded like a broken record. Ed Miliband seemed to be more concerned with pouring yet more money into the NHS rather than getting value for money, which will benefit everyone.

I WOULD like to know when the two Eds of the Labour Party, Ed Balls and Ed Miliband, are going to stop telling lies to the general public. They are an absolute nuisance.

IF you believe the right wing Press, Ed Miliband will be a failure as PM. Yet let’s look at David Cameron’s record.

His involvement in foreign affairs has been catastrophic. He promised no top-down restructures in the NHS, then allowed exactly that. When challenged, he replied: “This is a bottom-up restructure, not a top- down one.” More privatisations followed. Despite a funding freeze, Cameron tells us he will improve education. How, when many classes have forty students? Mr Cameron has shown himself unfit to govern.

iN March 2010 the majority of the nation wanted rid of Labour. If Labour take charge of the UK Treasury this year, it could take to 2050 for a sensible pragmatic Conservative government to correct their financial folly wrought upon the country.
