October 8: Theresa May right to say mass immigration would not benefit UK

From: Karl Sheridan, Selby Road, Holme on Spalding Moor.

AT last a Government who realise that a mass inflow of migrants into the UK would not be beneficial to the UK or the UK economy (The Yorkshire Post, October 5).

Theresa May’s speech at the Conservative conference points out that mass immigration has not been proven to boost productiveness or indeed help communities and this is fact.
The humanitarian concept is
fine in theory but can lead in practice to dire consequences for those areas that would be affected.

Observing the BBC’s more than sympathetic and somewhat excessive coverage of the migrants at Calais, it shows the vast majority trying to enter our country to be young unmarried men who to be honest come across as hard-faced schemers with a belligerent attitude
intent on any means possible to get here to exploit our benefit system.

Most have no concept of the fine balance as regards multi-culturalism that the UK has managed adopt, despite the large numbers of migrants already here.

David Cameron is right to point out that our domestic services will be put under extraordinary pressure and that we only need to allow in genuine migrants in a measured way and not just let in those hoping to exploit everything that we have fought for in this country.

I do, however, worry that further uncontrolled migration will cause many problems for us in the future.

I HAVE argued for a very long time that the biggest percentage of the ‘refugees’ are, in fact immigrants seeking a better life at our expense. The greater part of the crowd trying to get here are young fit men. Since the unlimited immigration policy of the Blair years, what could be more natural that those we welcomed here then will pass the message back to relatives and friends pointing out that they get housing, money and food, all provided for by we taxpayers. Yes, I am paying taxes at the age of 80-plus.

Genuine refugees are and should be welcomed here, but with the immigration and police services badly under-funded, there is absolutely nothing that can be done to prevent this once Christian country eventually being dominated by Muslims.

Again I have no problems with genuine Muslims who follow the Koran but the radicals, who would do us harm, concern me, and I suspect many others, a great deal.
