Postal service changes must not remain as a cost-cutting exercise after pandemic

I live in a rural area of Barnsley and am self isolating (as my partner is classed as vulnerable) during the current pandemic.

During a telephone conversation, I mentioned to a friend that I had not received a parcel which I was expecting on May 2. After making an enquiry it appears that for the time being, owing to the Covid-19 crisis, the general public will not be receiving a postal delivery on a Saturday.

While I understand services may have to see some temporary changes, my experience is that when a reduction in service takes place then it is not reinstated. In the past senior management have reduced levels of service as a cost cutting exercise.

We cannot let companies use the pandemic as a front for cutting essential services. I hope that my suspicions are proven wrong. Postal workers are essential key workers during this national emergency. Is this how they are rewarded?
