Praise as school gets top marks

I WAS so pleased to read the report (Yorkshire Post, May 15) about the recent success of City of Leeds School. League tables often show high achieving establishments, often in leafy suburbs.

The tireless work of staff and pupils in inner city schools rarely hits the headlines.

Georgina Sale has toiled long and hard in this sector. The City of Leeds owes a debt of gratitude to leaders like her. To the pupils staff and governors of City of Leeds School, I say well done. This is only the beginning, let us have more success in more inner city schools.

Extend heart tests to others

IT has been reported that 12 children die every week in England from undetected heart disease. That statistic shocked and surprised me and it is not widely known. I assume research is taking place to help early detection.

I did read that all young Premiership footballers are put through comprehensive heart tests. Perhaps the tests could be extended to others.

Weather or not?
