Ride to rescue of cycle medics

From: Simon Geller, National Liaison, Cyclesheffield.

WE deplore the Ambulance Service decision to take cycling paramedics off the street in Yorkshire cities.

Wherever they have been deployed, cycling paramedics have been proven to be excellent value and have been able to reach people in urgent need of medical attention much faster than by any other means, especially in pedestrianised shopping areas.

The withdrawal of the service will hit children and old people particularly, where rapid response times are vital. We believe this service should be reinstated as quickly as possible, before lives are lost.

Take on BBC

From: Ms MJ Lilly, Follifoot, Harrogate.

As our Yorkshire “voice”, will you take up the cudgels against the BBC for the ridiculous portrayal of Scarborough in Nicholas Crane’s series Town on BBC2?

It was supposed to look at how the town has risen from the doldrums to be attractive to holidaymakers again but all we saw was too many aerial shots, swimming and surfing, hotel guests playing cards and other time-wasting. No Peasholm Park (which staged a major concert last year), the Rotunda, Oliver’s Mount, South cliff and its lovely buildings and gardens, to name a few of its charms. .

Size chaos

MANY times I have listened to my wife Ann complaining that shopping for clothing is an utter nightmare with different manufacturers and catalogues all seemingly to have a different interpretation on clothing sizes. When she compares a size 12 in one catalogue, it appears different in another. Let’s have legislation to make life simpler for us all?
