Simple answer is to sail away

THE EU’s new restriction on shipping emissions, which come into effect in three years’ time, will add substantially to shipping costs and could drive some ferries out of business.

You know what the logical, popular and obvious solution is to this problem? Just as we have committed ourselves to a reliance on windmills for our power, let us simply return to the days of sail.

What could be more green and less polluting than that?

Marigold that failed to bloom

AM I the only person disappointed with the film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel? It had such splendid hype, wonderful accolades, the best feel-good film of the year etc but I found it very bland with no depth. I thought the scenes in India were brilliant and the colour and senses were captured perfectly but all the best bits were shown on the advertising trailer. In my opinion, the storylines were extremely slight and a waste on such wonderful actors, or is it just me?

Safe future for the monarchy

WELL done Prince Harry – his visit to the Caribbean and South America on behalf of the Queen has been a credit to Her Majesty.

His easy-going style shows that the Royals are in safe hands with also the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and grafters like Princess Anne’s children.
