I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with Andrew Vine’s column regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (The Yorkshire Post, July 28).

I never read any racist remarks before the marriage, perhaps because I read quality papers (The Yorkshire Post being one).

I thought the couple had been warmly and lovingly received and I feel they have given the Queen and her family, together with the British public, a big slap in the face.

Yes they are monumental whingers and should stay put in America. For a couple who wanted ‘privacy’, they have certainly not gone about doing just that. Good riddance.

From: Peter Hyde, Driffield.

PRINCE Harry was almost a hero of mine with his participation in the war in Afghanistan, and his involvement in creating the Invictus Games. He was a credit to the Royal Family and, indeed, his country.

Then he met Meghan Markle. One does wonder what will be the outcome for him if she finds him a burden instead of an asset.

He has made his bed and must lie in it, but it is our wonderful Queen that I feel sympathy for. She has lost a grandson and great grandson in one fell swoop.

From: Hilary Andrews, Nursery Lane, Leeds.

IF the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t cooperate on the book Finding Freedom (The Yorkshire Post, July 29), why aren’t they suing the authors? After all they are suing for almost everyone else for alleged privacy breaches.

They should not have allowed publication of such a book when senior Royals are working hard to keep up the spirits of the UK population in this terrible pandemic.

Editor’s note: first and foremost - and rarely have I written down these words with more sincerity - I hope this finds you well.
