The cruel price of culturalism

From: DS Boyes, Rodley Lane, Leeds.

I SHARE Mrs Bookbinder’s concerns over reports of cruelty to pigs (Yorkshire Post, August 1), but is she aware of the far greater atrocities inflicted daily on
sheep, goats and cattle during ritual slaughter for Islamic halal meat?

Throats are cut, without the pre-stunning the law demands for the mainstream population, incredibly with the full
consent of Her Majesty’s Government!

But these practices are the direct result of multi-culturalism being forced on this country by unscrupulous politicians to whom their votes are more important than rapidly declining moral standards.

Moving summer

From: Andrew Mercer, Guiseley.

WHAT constitutes “summer”? According to road signs along
the A65, this is when Leeds Council should complete improvements to the Kirkstall Road.

Yet, with little progress in recent weeks, I can only assume that they were, in fact, referring to
any “Indian summer” that
may or may not occur in the autumn.

Question of crops

From: Keith Berridge, Park Road, Cross Hills, Keighley.

I REFER to your photograph (Yorkshire Post August 6). The narrative below the photo suggests that the farmer on his tractor is harvesting grain, but I can only see what I think is a
high density baling machine often used for harvesting hay or silage.

May I ask if any of your farming readers can confirm the crop being gathered?

Salute to athletes

From: James Woodhead, Yeadon, Leeds.

The home towns or cities of most of Yorkshire’s medal winning athletes appear to be organising some form of celebration for their prize-winning efforts.

Could not a countywide event be organised to which all of the medal winners are invited? .
