The trouble with stubble

WHY do many of the presenters and guests on TV think that appearing with so-called designer stubble and tousled unkempt hair makes them attractive and manly?

All it says to me is that they are scruffy, lazy people who can’t be bothered to look presentable to the viewers. Call me old-fashioned if you like, but more and more are slaves to such fashions and wouldn’t be seen dead looking clean and smart.

ONE cannot doubt the architectural quality of Harewood House (Yorkshire Post, October 23). However, perhaps people should acquaint themselves with the source of the Lascelles family’s vast wealth. They might start such an enquiry by reading Matthew Parker’s The Sugar Barons.

Profits of doom

ALTHOUGH I am fortunate enough to absorb the rises in energy costs, I agree with everyone else that they are exorbitant and unreasonable.

The so-called watchdog Ofgem is failing in its duty and there should be sackings if they are unable or unwilling to rein in this shameless profiteering.
