Trusting the meter readers
I WAS rather surprised that British Gas don’t send out meter readers to some customers, which was the problem faced by Mr and Mrs Moorfoot (Yorkshire Post, April 10).
My surprise is because we are on a dual-tariff for both electric and gas with British Gas. We are also on monthly direct debit and they ask us for our own meter readings quite regularly by email which we duly send in by return.

They won’t visit Mr Moorfoot and they don’t trust me, so should I send the next meter reader down to Thurcroft?
Welshing on the roads
From: Neil Sterio, Highways Agency, Leeds.
I WRITE concerning your story “Main holiday route shut by cargo ship reopens” (Yorkshire Post, April 7) in which you report that the Highways Agency reopened the A55 north Wales coast route.
The Highways Agency does not operate any roads in Wales. The Highways Agency is an executive agency of the Department for Transport, and is responsible for operating, maintaining and improving the strategic road network in England on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport.

News beefs

I THINK that it would have been more appropriate ,and certainly pleasing to me, to have seen the excellent efforts of Sir Ian Botham undertaking his walk for charity on the front page (Yorkshire Post, March 13) rather than the fact that the wife of some footballer had won money on a horse race!
