Unhappy landings make airport one to miss

From: Geoff Allen, Hough Side Lane, Pudsey, Leeds.

FOLLOWING the letter from Bob Crowther (Yorkshire Post, June 1) regarding Leeds Bradford International Airport, 30 minutes after Bob’s flight landed at the airport, I was on a Thomsons flight landing from Tenerife.

Our flight was due to land at 1.30am but we were happy
to land 30 minutes early at 1.00am.

On taxiing to the far end of the airport, we were informed by cabin crew that as the airport “were not expecting us” (their words not mine) we were not allowed to walk across the tarmac and we would have to wait five or 10 minutes for a bus.

Some 30 minutes later, we were transported to the terminal and it was 40 minutes after touchdown before we arrived in the terminal.

As Mr Crowther observed, escalators were switched off and the sight of young families with tired children and older passengers struggling with stairs was unsatisfactory. On arrival at baggage reclaim, we noted that two other flights were being unloaded on to the same carousel.

In conclusion, I heard several passengers saying this was the last time they would travel from LBA.
