From: Trev Bromby, Sculcoates Lane, Hull.

What I find incredible is the reported fact that this was the 11th such attack on the same church. It had been re-leaded 10 times.

As lead theft from church rooves has prevailed from time immemorial, what possesses the churches to keep up the senseless replacement of lead as a roof covering? Hail hero in age of selfishness

From: Mrs HD Allen, Aberford Road, Oulton, Leeds.

REGARDING The Lost Hero of 9/11 (Channel 4, September 2).

What a lovely man! What lovely families! What lovely people! An uplifting programme in every way. Restoring faith in humanity at this war torn time.

Like the song You Raise Me Up, I’m sure the programme must have raised a lot of people’s spirits and given viewers much to consider in this selfish age.

VIDA Foster (Yorkshire Post, September 2) quoted Albert Einstein as follows: “Peace cannot be kept by force, but by understanding.”

Einstein is also said to have defined an idiot as “one who does the same thing repeatedly, but expects different results”.
