Why I’m baffled by continued police focus on speed cameras during crisis

Should speed cameras continue to be used during the Covid-19 lockdown?

Is it really necessary at these uncertain, worrying times to have speed cameras out in force?

Motorists are only going on necessary journeys. There were three cameras in our area. I was unfortunately caught going over 30mph by a camera slyly positioned outside Brayton Church. I should not have been over the speed limit but a £100 fine and three points on my licence at this time is not helpful.

Are all these cameras necessary?

I’m heartened to see so many police patrols – both on foot and in cars – making sure the coronavirus lockdown is enforced.

If only West Yorkshire Police could be so diligent at all other times, crime might not have soared out of control under a succession of unimpressive chief
constables.

From: Henry Cobden, Harrogate.

It is an insult Priti Patel is still Home Secretary when not prepared to be answerable.

Imagine the outcry if David Blunkett, one of her more illustrious predecessors, had gone AWOL after the September 11 terror attacks.
