Wrong to leave Queen out of debate on Cameron EU policy

From: Ken Hartford, Durham Mews, Butt Lane, Beverley.

it would appear that no reference was made directly to the Queen or any of the Royal Family regarding David Cameron’s decision apropos of Britain’s international diplomacy.

Within a “Monarchy”, can Cameron’s “attitude” regarding our future economy be wholly supported by the people? Sadly, our very politically involved Monarch’s opinion has been, it would seem, completely dismissed as of no value.

I am sure I’m not the only royalist who is amazed by such dismissal. Certainly Charles II would not have tolerated any of this kind of nonsense; nor, I think, would Henry VII.

Now maybe I am being old-fashioned, but I have to admit that being born only four days after our present Queen has always enabled me to admire Queen Elizabeth’s deeply valued interest in both our political and economic international policies.

Very few monarchs have worked harder in fact and can anybody imagine Victoria tolerating such disrespectful oversight from, say, Disraeli or Gladstone? She must have been absolutely infuriated by her son Edward VII.

Having been brought up in an orphanage by six women, I tend to have a rather high opinion of politically-motivated females. Maybe I am biased through the opinions of at least six women family members!

Nick Clegg’s empty seat during the Prime Minister’s Statement on the EU Summit is just the latest example of Lib Dem members of the Coalition going off-side, (whatever happened to Cabinet Government and collective responsibility?)

When followed by his cheap jibes at Cameron at a Lib Dem Christmas Party, it becomes quite clear this isn’t a coalition Government but more of a marriage of inconvenience between two totally incompatible partners.

Formed in the national interest, although I doubt that premise was ever really true, and most certainly isn’t now, Clegg is only hanging on to try and salvage his party. How can that possibly be in the national interest?

He should return to his constituency and prepare for annihilation. Polling Day, May 3, 2012?

I RECENTLY read these few sentences in an email from a friend and thought that I should share them!

“You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

“What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

“The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

“You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!”

Whether we are talking about social engineering, the euro crisis or life in general, it sounds like good sense to me!
