Owners reminded on sunbed safety

SUNBED salon owners in Rotherham are being asked to attend an NHS-organised event to promote safe tanning.

A range of information will be available and presentations

will take place on both the risks of using ultra violet tanning equipment and the importance of the Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010, which prevents children aged under 18 from using sunbeds.

Chris McCartney, health promotion specialist for cancer at NHS Rotherham, said: "There are a number of health risks associated with the use of sunbeds including skin cancer, wrinkles and tissue damage.
