Parish to honour fallen

A SOUTH Yorkshire parish is set to have its first war memorial honouring the fallen in the two world wars and the 65 years since 1945.

A cenotaph style war memorial is being planned for a site in the parish of Aston which comprises the villages of Aston, Aughton and Swallownest.

A working party has been set up together with the local History Group and Coun Gary Cooper an ex-serviceman member of Aston Parish Council.

The parish has a memorial/book of remembrance in Aston Parish Church but no large central memorial.
