PC charged with dangerous driving after pedestrian is killed

A SOUTH Yorkshire police officer is to be charged with causing death by dangerous driving after his patrol car hit a pedestrian, the Independent Police Complaints Commission has said.

Pc David Allen, 34, is to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on January 29, the IPCC said.

Ian Hambrey, 49, died after being hit by a patrol car driven by the officer in Doncaster in March last year.

The IPCC said a second police officer who was a passenger in the vehicle with Allen will not face criminal charges.
