Pensioner ‘stabbed in her bed’

Irene Dale, who was in her 70s, was attacked at her home in Summergangs Road, Hull, on Saturday.

Her husband Alan, who is in his 80s, survived after he was also stabbed while in bed.

Police were called to the property at 3.30am and said Mrs Dale had died at the scene.

A boy aged 17, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared at Hull Youth Court yesterday charged with murder and attempted murder.

He was remanded in custody until a bail hearing due to be heard at Hull Crown Court tomorrow.
