Phone video showed gang abuse of drunken schoolgirl, jury told

The 15-year-old was raped and sexually assaulted at three different addresses in West Yorkshire by six men during the course of one night, it was alleged at Leeds Crown Court.

Video clips showing the naked teenager being abused by some of the men, said to have been recovered from the phone of taxi driver Larasab Hussain, were played to the jury as the case opened.

Sharon Beattie prosecuting said the clips showed “part of the sexual assaults on the complainant”.

“She is seen to be distressed and naked while being abused both physically and verbally by Ali Rehman and others. You may think the video paints a compelling picture of the events of that evening.”

She said the girl believed other films were made during her ordeal but that was the only phone recovered.

“What it demonstrates is the attitude of Ali Rehman and others towards her.

“She was being treated as little more than an object, something to use and abuse.

“There was no question of her giving consent or any true consent to the sexual activities that took place between her and those men that evening.”

Mohammed Ali Rehman, 26, of Tanhouse Street, Dewsbury, denies three charges of rape and one of attempted rape. Faisar Younas, 23, of Textile Street, Dewsbury, denies one charge of rape, Hassan Rehman, of Tanhouse Street, Dewsbury, and Wahid Hussain, 20, of Broomer Street, Ravensthorpe, both deny attempted rape while Larasab Hussain, 46, of Headfield Road, Thornhill, Dewsbury, and Saqib Hussain, 31, of Huddersfield Road, Ravens-thorpe, each deny sexual assault.

Miss Beattie told the court on the evening of May 11, 2010 the girl had gone out with a friend and they bought a bottle of vodka and drank it.

The friend apparently knew Ali and after seeing him in his car arranged to go to his home because she said she wanted to get some cannabis from him.

They went to his address in Sackville Street, Ravensthorpe where the schoolgirl drank Jack Daniels and was described as “legless”.

When it came time to leave she could not walk and it was arranged she would stay and sleep off the drink after her friend left.

Miss Beattie said the girl was later that night reported missing.

She was found the following morning at that address and claimed at the time nothing sexual at happened to her, but subsequently revealed some of the events leading to further inquiries.

She said initially she remembered being in a bedroom and Saqib Hussain being present who was told by Ali Rehman, as he was known, that he had 10 minutes.

Hussain began sexually assaulting her and gave her a love bite on her neck but within minutes he was told his time was up.

“If this is right it demonstrates right from the off he was set on this girl being available for sexual gratification of him and friends and the fact she couldn’t walk demonstrates she was vulnerable to these men,” said Miss Beattie.

The girl felt sleepy and remembered Ali Rehman removing her leggings and then raping her but was interrupted by his brother Hassan Rehman telling them they had to leave, possibly because they realised the girl was being looked for.

She told the jury the girl was told to dress and she was then physically carried over his shoulder by Ali Rehman to the address of Faisar Younas in Myrtle Road where she was given more vodka.

At that address she was told to perform oral sex on Ali Rehman and Younas while Hassan Rehman and Saqib Hussain watched.

She then remembered Hassan Rehman and Wahid Hussain trying to rape her before she was taken elsewhere in a taxi driven by Larasab Hussain to an unidentified address where she was plied with more drink.

There Ali Rehman again tried to have sex with her. She said others were in the room and held her when she struggled to get away.
