Photographs to go on show in landscape that inspired them

STUNNING pictures from one of North Yorkshire's most acclaimed photographers are to go on show in the heart of the landscape that inspired them.

The free exhibition by Joe Cornish is called Beneath the Restless Sky and showcases his affinity with the forests, moors and coastline around the North York Moors.

It opens at the North York Moors National Park Centre on December 12, where the photographer will be on hand to talk about his work, technique and inspiration.

Mr Cornish, who lives in the national park, said: "I have walked and photographed in the dales, on the ridges, in the woodlands and on the coast of this national park, at all times of the day, in all weathers and in every season and have found in the North York Moors a landscape with which I can truly connect.

"There is no limit to the possibilities, for even in the tiny area that lies north of our village I continue to find unexplored footpaths, and occasionally, surprising views and glimpses.

"I hope that through my photography I can share the notion that connection with place, wherever it may be, encourages us to appreciate and cherish a landscape as it in turn refreshes and restores us."

The exhibition runs until January 30 between 11am and 4pm (daily in December, weekends only in January).
