Picture’s pride of place

TWO teenage girls from Barnsley are travelling to London today to have their artwork hung in the House of Commons.

Jorji Lea Peel and Georgina Kerr, both 14, will be unveiling their winning Proud of Barnsley picture, accompanied by artist Ashley Jackson and author Milly Johnson.

Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis said: “Proud of Barnsley was created so that people from across Barnsley could tell everyone about the things that make them proud of our town.”

Mr Jarvis will meet the girls for lunch before the unveiling.

Mr Jackson said: “I often think there must be something in the water, if you consider all the creative people from Barnsley.”
