Craven Council’s Planning Committee will be asked to grant outline permission for a residential development and new highway access on land at Little Croft, West Lane, today.
The planning application has resulted in 17 letters of objection to the local authority but the committee members will be advised to grant permission subject to conditions.
Proposed access to the new development of seven two-story houses and three bungalows would involve a new junction off West Lane some 55 metres to the south of the existing access to Slubbing Hill Farm.
Critics claim West Lane and the roads leading to the site are narrow and unsuitable for additional traffic.
There are safety fears about the new junction, concerns about flooding risk and the “burden” on local services. Sutton Parish council has also objected to the scheme.
However, a report says the proposal will “provide high quality housing, including a significant provision of affordable housing of an appropriate mix to meet identified local housing need”.
