Pledge from fire strikers

The Fire Brigades Union gave an undertaking in the High Court yesterday not to hinder or intimidate emergency crews during the strike which was set to start today.

London Fire Brigade went to court seeking an injunction but the matter was settled by the agreement.

The union had been involved in last-ditch talks to avert the two-day walkout over the Bonfire Night weekend – the busiest time of the year for firefighters.

Private firm AssetCo has been contracted to provide emergency cover during the 47-hour strike.
