Plug is pulled on karaoke nuisance

A KARAOKE fan who made her neighbours’ lives a misery has had her singing career cut short after her sound making equipment was seized by environmental health officers.

Eileen Buckley had been the subject of a council investigation for several months after repeated complaints were made by neighbours about her anti-social behaviour, which included singing and shouting.

Rotherham Magistrates were told the 38-year-old, who lives in a council-owned property in Park Lane, Thrybergh, Rotherham, regularly disturbed neighbours and had been served with a notice to stop.

But she ignored the order and following further complaints, Rotherham Council’s community protection unit obtained a warrant authorising them to enter her property and seize equipment.

Last week, accompanied by police, the council officers seized her television and stereo equipment.

Coun Rose McNeely, the authority’s housing spokesman said: “This authority will not tolerate serious persistent nuisance. It is vital that the council does all in its power to ensure that the public are protected from anti-social behaviour.”
