Poignant trip for veteran
A war veteran from Yorkshire who escaped Japanese captivity in 1942 is returning to the Far East thanks to a Heroes Return grant.
Len Parry, 89, of Skipton, and his wife are using a 3,700 grant from the Big Lottery Fund to fund the trip.
Veterans from Harrogate, Bradford, Sheffield, Halifax, Bridlington and Ilkley have been awarded 22,000 from Heroes Return 2.
