Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Baldwin said: “This remains very much an ongoing investigation with officers working tirelessly to piece together events leading up to Mateusz’s death.

“We are in close contact with his family and I am committed, as are my team, to ensuring we find out who is responsible for this violent attack.

“I would like to reassure the public that from enquiries undertaken to date, we do not believe this to be a random incident.

Our investigation is progressing but we still need the public to come forward if they know anything about this.

“We are dealing with a tragic incident, as a result of which a young father has been taken from his family.
