Police appeal after pensioner dies in Bradford crash

A 71 year old man has died and another man has been arrested after a collision in Bradford last night.

It happened at around 6.25pm (Friday) at the junction of Idle Road and Myers Lane.

Police say the pensioner had been involved in a collision with a blue Peugeot Bipper van at the junction. He was treated by paramedics at the scene but pronounced dead a short time later.

The vehicle, which had been heading in the direction of Bolton Road at the time of the collision, left the scene down Myers Lane and was found parked up in nearby street at about 8pm.

A 28-year-old man, from Bradford, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision and is in custody.

West Yorkshire Police say they would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the movements of vehicle or the deceased man in the moments prior to it.
