Police appeal for assault witnesses

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following two assaults that happened within minutes of each other at an East Riding pub and which left one man needing surgery.

The first assault took place at 40 minutes after midnight on Saturday April 9, when a 19-year-old man who was walking into the beer garden at the rear of the King’s Head pub in Hedon got involved in an argument with another man, who then punched him.

A woman is then said to have also assaulted the victim.

The 19-year-old was cut on his head and suffered swelling and bruising. A 24-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The second assault took place just five minutes later. A 30-year-old man was standing in the beer garden when he was punched in the face by another man, making him fall over.

He was then punched several more times on the floor.

The victim suffered severed tendons in his hand which have required extensive surgery.
