Police appeal for witnesses after a teenager dies on a South Yorkshire motorway

A teenager died in a car crash on the M18 motorway in South Yorkshire.

The 17 year-old boy was a passenger in the BMW which was heading towards Doncaster from junction one, when it reportedly left the carriageway and ended up on its roof.

He was thrown from the car as a result of the collision and collided with a blue Citroen Picasso, travelling in the same direction. It happened around 7.30pm on Saturday.

The boy, from Oldham, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, added a police spokesperson.

Two other men travelling in the car, aged 18 and 19, suffered minor injuries.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the BMW prior to the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the incident to call 101 quoting incident number 989 of 13 May 2017.
