Police now want to trace the drivers of two vehicles they know stopped at the scene but left before officers were able to speak to them.

One is a blue VW Passat and the other is a small silver 4x4.

Police said the drivers may have seen something that could help the investigation.

Sgt Carole Clayton, from West Yorkshire Police's Major Collision Inquiry Team, said: "We still need to trace the driver of another vehicle which may have collided with Stephen before driving off. I would urge anyone with any information to contact us immediately."

A woman was yesterday still helping police with their inquiries.

It is thought Mr Wood, from Ilkley, was drinking at the Vaults pub in Ilkley on Saturday night, where he was a regular, and after leaving may have headed out along the Skipton Road towards Addingham

Officers have asked anyone who was drinking with him or saw him after he left the pub to get in touch.

Police have also urged anyone who has suspicions about a friend or relative being involved to contact them.

The incident happened just after midnight.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Clayton at West Yorkshire Police's Major Collision Inquiry Team on 01924 293047 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
