Police check cold cases in building site bones riddle

Police investigating the discovery of skeletal remains on a building site have said the body may be that of a man reported missing.

A post-mortem examination has now been carried out on the bones which were found on wasteland in Valley Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, two weeks ago. Detectives, who have re-examined a number of cold cases, said it may take several weeks before they can positively identify the remains but added that a line of inquiry had been established.

Officers have not confirmed the cause of death and it is still being treated as unexplained.

The spokesman added: “A team of specialist victim recovery dogs from the Metropolitan Police were at the site yesterday as searches continue to try and unearth anything further that may ascertain how the man came to be there.”
