Police determined to find little boy's 'faceless' killer

A HARROWING photograph released by police shows the result of an arson attack which killed a Yorkshire schoolboy.

Tomorrow would have been Joe McCafferty's 21st birthday but his life was cut short at the age of seven when his aunt's house was set on fire.

The 1997 arson attack, in which petrol was poured through the letter box in Haywood Avenue in Marsh, Huddersfield, remains unsolved. Joe was seriously injured and died later in hospital.

Police are renewing their appeal for information this weekend.

Det Supt Dave Pervin said: "Knowing that Joe should be marking his 21st birthday this weekend, that he could be a university graduate, making his own way in life, maybe married and looking to have a family of his own, only makes me more determined than ever to find his faceless and callous killer."

Anyone with any information that could help the police should call 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
