Police make arrest after Barnsley man shot in knees and dumped by roadside

A man has been arrested over the alleged abduction and shooting of a Barnsley man who was dumped more than 250 miles from his home.

The 45-year-old victim was allegedly attacked at his house in Strafford Walk, Dodworth, and then driven to East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, where he was shot in the knees and dumped by the side of a road in March.

Emergency services found the man on a grass verge near the junction of Stewartfield Way and Stewartfield Crescent on March 13.

He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for extensive treatment and has since been released.

Police north and south of the border launched a large-scale investigation named Operation Draken and a 48-year-old man has now been arrested by Police Scotland.

He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, December 28.
