Police release CCTV of man in Leeds sex attack case

POLICE investigating a serious sexual assault on a 21-year-old woman in Leeds have released a CCTV image of a man they want to question.

The image was taken from a camera at The Faversham pub in Springfield Mount, next to the University of Leeds main campus, where the victim met the suspect in the early hours of February 3, during a 'carnival night' event.

Between 2am and 4am, the two travelled by taxi to the woman's home in Woodsley Road, Hyde Park, where she was subjected to a serious sexual assault.

Stolen during the incident was an I-pod Classic with a black front and a silver back, and a personalised engraving to the owner with the words "love Mum and Dad". A red Dell laptop computer was also taken.

The suspect is described as being possibly of Asian or South American appearance and aged in his early twenties with messy, short, dark hair. He was tall and slim with delicate features and spoke with a Leeds accent.

Det Insp Mark Gaunt said: "Although we are now a number of months on from this incident, we remain determined to keep progressing the investigation to its conclusion. We are still convinced that someone out there will recognise the man we want to trace from the CCTV image."
