Police warn of speculation on death of boy

York High School pupil Liam Cole was discovered unconscious at the property in Braham Avenue, Acomb, on Sunday afternoon. He died later in York Hospital.

Tributes have been left on Facebook by friends, but North Yorkshire Police urged people not to speculate about his death, in particular social network users.

Police officers have declined to disclose the exact nature of an ongoing investigation, although the death is not being treated as suspicious and it is understood that there is no evidence to suggest Liam had been the victim of bullying.

Detective Inspector Maria Taylor said: "Out of respect to his loved ones, we ask people not to speculate about his death, in particular social network users, and to consider his family at this very upsetting time."
