Policeman suspended after driving off from crash

A YORKSHIRE police officer has been suspended from duty after crashing a police car into a parked car and driving off.

A trial at Calderdale Magistrates' Court found Pc Kashif Hussain guilty of failing to stop after an accident and failing to report the incident after smashing into a Lexus at the junction of Bradford Road and Wyke Old Lane, Brighouse, on January 11.

The 32-year-old officer, who is based in the Bradford South division, is now facing a disciplinary hearing after being convicted following a trial at Calderdale Magistrates Court earlier this week.

Hussain, who denied the charges, was fined 1,695 and received eight points on his licence.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We are aware of the outcome of the case at the magistrates' court and we are now reviewing internal disciplinary matters."

Hussain has been a Bradford South response officer for almost 10 years.
