And today, ahead of the BBC Question Time special when they’re both due to answer questions from a specially invited studio audience in York, they have set out their visions for the region in The Yorkshire Post.

This is the one media outlet in the whole country where they’re genuinely going head-to-head in the 2017 election – they won’t even be debating each other face-to-face when they’re questioned by veteran broadcaster David Dimbleby later today.

A measure of this newspaper’s prestige, and how The Yorkshire Post continues to shape the political agenda in this region, both offer contrasting visions which are microcosms of the campaign thus far.

Mrs May, the Prime Minister, focuses on the importance of Brexit, and how successful negotiations with the EU hold the key to the nation’s future prosperity, while Mr Corbyn, Leader of the Opposition, chooses to focus on the importance of investing in this region’s transport infrastructure and other reforms to domestic policy.
