MP hailed as
champion by
beer brewers

SELBY MP Nigel Adams MP was presented with a Parliamentary Beer Champion award on behalf of The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA).

The award was made during a visit by Mr Adams to the microbrewery which is in his constituency, near Selby. #

Great Heck Brewery owner and head brewer Denzil Vallance said that the award is in recognition of Nigel’s work in Parliament towards achieving last year’s historic cut in beer duty, the first since 1959.

Nigel said: “I’m very pleased to have received this award and I’m particularly happy to see the effects of the cut in beer duty in a young and successful new business like Great Heck Brewery.

“It shows the benefits to employment, business and opportunity in the constituency.”

Mr Vallance said: “Beer duty makes up over 50 per cent of our costs and so we were delighted.”
