The gift from the upmarket retailer, delivered on May 8, emerged in the first register of MPs’ financial interests of the new parliament.

Mr Cameron declares that he is still receiving more than £10,000 a year from renting out his London home while living in Downing Street. He has also had his honorary membership of Ellesborough Golf Club in Buckinghamshire renewed - worth £1,165 annually.

The records show London Mayor Boris Johnson has received an advance of £88,000 from publisher Hodder & Stoughton for a “book as yet unwritten”.

The Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP also lists receiving £5,791.22 in May for his mayoral salary. The wage was automatically cut by two-thirds to £47,000 a year as soon as he joined the House, but he was earning the higher figure for some of the payroll run.

Mr Johnson was paid £22,916.66 on May 13 for writing his Daily Telegraph column.
