I SOMETIMES tour the Indian State of Gujarati talking about education and modernisation. When they ask me where I come from I say I am “a European, Yorkshireman and a citizen of the world”.

They ask me why I don’t mention Great Britain, and I reply: “Because I don’t know it in the way that I know the people and the cultures of Yorkshire.”

I will vote to stay. I have no time for referendums, which are tools in Tory coups and threaten to damage both Yorkshire and Europe. I am indebted to European culture in the same way as I am to my adopted county.

IF the EU referendum results in Brexit, who governs Britain? It now seems unlikely that the Conservatives will regain their unity. A general election could be inevitable. Many have reservations about Jeremy Corbyn, but he is leader of the only party with the capability of forming a government,
perhaps in alliance with the SNP.

Should we look forward to a Corbyn-led government handling the complex post-Brexit trade and other negotiations?

Much UK legislation will be needed following exit, leaving little time for other business.

IF Jeremy Corbyn really believes that he can “reform” the EU, he is very much mistaken. I suggest that he starts with something a bit easier, like repairing the terminally fractured Labour party.

NO will die through the vote on June 23 but you may well lose our freedom, our democracy and our country.

From: Janet Berry, Barfield, Hambleton.

WHY cannot our politicians be brave enough to say we are full? We are stretched to capacity and we cannot afford any more immigration.

This is not racist, it is common sense.

From: Harry Santiuste, Coningsburgh Road, Edenthorpe, Doncaster.

I DON’T know which Remain group is the more hypocritical – luvvies united or financial whizz-kids George Osborne, Christine Lagarde and Joey Barton.
