YP Letters: Unconvinced by PM's claims of economic woe outside EU

From: MP Laycock, Harrogate.
Has David Cameron convinced sufficient people about the benefits of the EU?Has David Cameron convinced sufficient people about the benefits of the EU?

DAVID Cameron, on BBC Question Time, included, in almost all his answers, an assertion that leaving the EU would damage Britain’s economy. He gave no convincing explanation as to why leaving the EU would endanger Britain’s exports to a market which, increasingly, exports more to us than we do to it. He preferred, instead, to rely on the judgment of so-called experts who had predicted disaster, if we failed to join the euro, and mass unemployment, from George Osborne’s attempts to cut public spending.

From: Philip Ashworth, Skircoat Green, Halifax.

IN September 2015, President Juncker stated “our European Union is not in a good state” and “there is not enough union in this union”.

Do we really want to be ruled by those we don’t elect and whom we can’t remove? We have an opportunity to leave today. Let’s take it!

From: Jeff Miles, Leeds.

TWO world wars were fought to liberate Europe and maintain our independence, with the help of the Commonwealth countries, only to give it away to the EU and then be shackled to them. Why?

From: J Hutchinson, York.

THE CBI say that the EU could create more than 60,000 jobs if we vote to remain. Where are these jobs, and why have they not materialised over the past few years?

From: G Davies, Malton.

WE are not alone. If we vote out, other countries will ask for a referendum. All the economic risks will thereby be avoided, barring a short period of uncertainty while the EU announces the intention to renegotiate.

From: M Dobson, York.

RE David Cameron’s analogy with a defective car. If you’ve been driving around in a clapped out old banger that’s costing more to keep on the road than the car is worth, any sensible person trades it in for a new model.

From: Alan Chapman, Bingley.

TODAY is destiny day, do the electors vote to Remain along with big business and the Establishment, or do we the people vote to set ourselves free once and for all?

We get only one chance so make sure you vote for Leave. It is simple – it is them or us!

The Establishment versus the people.
