IN the late 1970s and early 1980s, three of us decided we would buy and import some cars from Belgium.

At that time Mercedes and Opel cars were up to 25 per cent cheaper there than in Britain.

We had very little difficulty
in sourcing these cars as individuals with no trade agreements.

The only criteria was if you had the money you could buy cars with English specifications. Simple, straightforward, no red tape. Why, 35 years later, do we worry about trade with the EU if we vote Out?

From: Terry Palmer, South Lea Avenue, Hoyland, Barnsley.

SIR John Major, remember him? He tells us all to go to North Korea if we want to see what the UK will look like if after Brexit. Is this the same Sir John who said Britain should join the ERM? A total disaster that cost three million jobs.

Didn’t he sign us up to Maastricht saying it would not give up sovereignty?

Now he does not want to take back control and stop handing Brussels £350m a week. Major has been wrong on almost every issue.

He was wrong then and he is wrong now.

From: Serge Singh, Hull.

WE are told that the trades unions are in favour of remaining in the EU and it is true that some are, but as ever with the Little Englander insiders we have to check the facts carefully.

We find that several of
the largest, including RMT
and Aslef, are actively campaigning to leave the EU “because it is anti-democratic, anti-socialist and failing economically”.

Unite, the UK’s largest union, is split with some leaders recommending “leave” while others say “stay”.

Given all this, I feel we should be told why those trades unions which are recommending “in” are actively campaigning to destroy the rights of their workers.

THE European Commission say this is our last chance to vote in or out of the European Union.

I wonder what the odds are on being given another vote if David Cameron doesn’t get the result he is trying to scare us into?

Ireland tried for the “out” route but had to vote again to get the result this corrupt union wanted.
