ANOTHER excellent article from Jayne Dowle ‘Why banks must take account of the human touch’ (The Yorkshire Post, August 11).

In addition to what she had to say, almost all of which I agree with, she could have also mentioned the way all the banks treat their loyal customers.

Within our banking system, there is no reward for loyalty. Years ago it would have been so easy for them to introduce some sort of loyalty bonus scheme, based on the length of time a customer has been with the bank – maybe a £50 bonus for each year.

I have been with my bank for many years. Over that time, I have been generally happy with the service they have provided me. Consequently I have no strong desire to change. It does, however, annoy me that in order to gain a little financial reward I have to change banks.

Why can’t they recognise and appreciate our loyalty to them by making such a gesture to us, especially when they are prepared to make one to a new customer?
