Praise for improving standards at town's popular open art exhibition

VISITORS to an East Riding stately home can get their first look at entries for the annual Open Art exhibition in the West Wing Gallery at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

Entries are on display for this year's exhibition which organisers say has been inundated with interesting and unique entries, encompassing a variety of mediums, including paintings and sculptures.

Curator of Sewerby Hall and Gardens Janice Smith said she was delighted with this year's display: "The response had been tremendous and the standard of work so high that the selection panel had difficult decisions to make in judging."

Hall officials thanked everyone who entered pieces of work and those who have contributed to making the show one of the hall's most visually appealing open exhibitions.

She said: "Each year the standard of entries improves and 2010 has proven to be no exception. Picking the winners will be a very arduous task."

The gallery is open daily from 9am until 5pm. The exhibition runs until Tuesday, August 31 and is in the West Wing Gallery.

Admission charges to Sewerby Hall and Gardens apply, but there is no additional charge to attend the event. For further information, call Sewerby Hall and Gardens on: 01262 673769 or visit: www.sewerby-hall.co.uk
