Premature baby reaches a healthy 21

A woman who became the earliest surviving premature baby in the UK is celebrating reaching her 21st birthday with a party at her home in Leeds.

Jessica Phelan, was so small when she was born at just 23 weeks, that she weighed just 1lb 5oz and had to be dressed in doll's clothes. Jessica then spent seven-and-a-half months in St James's Hospital in Leeds and was on a heart monitor until she was 18-months-old. But she defied the odds has reached 21 with no lasting health problems.

'When I look at those photos I cannot believe that's me. I didn't really have any unusual health problems growing up, nothing different to what any child would, I was just a bit smaller than other children at school,' she said.
